Have something you'd like to see the library buy and add to our collections? Submit a purchase request.

UCSB faculty, students, and staff may use this form for ordering materials (books or other media) not already owned by the UCSB Library. We can purchase both physical and electronic copies of materials.

How long does it take for a purchase request to be completed?

It is standard practice for the UCSB Library to notify UCSB-affiliated individuals when requested items arrive, usually by e-mail, and we try to get materials as quickly as possible.

Some materials are much harder to get than others—for instance, books published a few years ago, and materials published outside North America and Western Europe can be challenging and time-consuming. If you need it sooner, you may want to borrow it from another library through Interlibrary Loan.

Please submit all Course and Electronic Reserve requests (books, electronic material, purchase requests) for the current quarter using the Course Reserve system. Requests for subsequent quarters will be accepted approximately one month before the start of that quarter. If you have any questions, please consult the Course Reserves page for more information, email Course Reserves at library-cres@ucsb.edu, or call (805) 893-4183.
