I want to harvest data from a library database to use in a research project. Am I allowed to do that?
Answer
Due to license agreements with the publishers it may not be allowed to do this from one of our subscription electronic resources. In some cases, your project may require a legal agreement or additional subscriptions. Before attempting to harvest large amounts of data from one of our subscription databases you should do the following:
-
Read our Electronic Resources Use Policy.
-
Contact your Subject Librarian.
-
Tell the librarian what you would like to do and ask them to connect you to someone who is familiar with our license agreements.
-
Do not attempt to move forward with data collection until you are informed of what is and isn’t allowed.
