I tried to access an electronic resource, but got an error message that says something like “page not found”.

This is likely due to a firewall on your end that is preventing you from using the proxy server. This most commonly happens when trying to access the Library’s electronic resources from a place of business, from another university, or from a country with a national firewall. To test this, go to this URL: https://login.proxy.library.ucsb.edu/login. If you do not get a login box, there is a firewall blocking your way. There are two things you can try:

Download and install the campus Pulse VPN client and see if it gives you access.

Contact the network administrator for your physical location and ask them to add these URLs as an exception to the firewall rules: https://login.proxy.library.ucsb.edu/login and https://proxy.library.ucsb.edu.
