How is the library collection organized?
Answer
The UCSB Library uses the Library of Congress Classification system to create unique call numbers for locating books and other materials. Most of the Library’s collections are organized by this classification, which is based on the subject of the book. Library of Congress call numbers are a combination of letters and numbers (e.g. HQ 1236.5 .U6 S83 2020). For more information see the About Call Numbers webpage and the Call Numbers & Locations guide.
