In order for your students to have access from off campus, the best practice is to use a proxy-prefixed link to the resource. There are a variety of ways to do this:
-
Use the permalink to the resource record in UC Library Search. Look for the “permalink” icon just below the call number. Links to e-resources from UC Library Search will ask the students to log into the proxy server before taking them to the full text.
-
Access the electronic resource while using the proxy server. Use the “permalink” or other link sharing tool at the e-journal or e-book site. The link it provides should include the prefix for the UCSB proxy server in the URL.
-
Make your own proxied link by adding this prefix just before “http” or “https” in an unproxied link: https://proxy.library.ucsb.edu/login?url=
